Well done to everyone who competed the First I.T.F Open Cup and who helped Carrick on Suir take home the Cup for best School, winning with a total of 54 points.
The competition was held in the Kingfisher Club by the Waterford Taekwon-Do school and was a great success. It was nice for us from Carrick on Suir not to have to travel too far to compete for once, but am not sure was this the general all round feeling as some of our younger members wanted to hire a bus to travel the 15 miles.
The arena itself was superb for the event with three sets of mats set out to make sure that the competition flowed smoothly. Students from R.I.T.A, I.T.A, RedStar and Elite Taekwon-Do Academy took place and it was nice to see the different organisations students chatting and getting to know each other.
Red Star Tkd actually added a good article of the day to their website along with some nice photos.
The morning started with the umpires meeting and then the junior pattern sparring and special technique took up most of the morning. The afternoon was exciting to watch with some spectacular sparring from the seniors. The Carrick on Suir black belts excelled themselves in the aftenoon and really added points to the list to help us take home the cup.
A full list of results can be seen on the R.I.T.A website
