GRADING - SIMSA
Promotion in Taekwondo is achieved by undergoing an examination that is known as a Grading. If a Student successfully passes the Grading, a new colour Belt will be presented. All the Colours are presented in a specific order and each one carries its own meaning and are steeped in tradition.
A newcomer to Taekwondo should be ready to grade within 4-6 weeks of commencing training provided that their Instructor agrees and the student is a fully registered member of The R.I.T.A. You will be asked to fill out a Grading card which will be held by your Instructor and will hold information of your initial Grading and subsequent Gradings thereafter. To Grade a student must wear an official Taekwondo Dobok ( uniform ) which can be obtained from your school.
Examiners of Taekwondo students are qualified I.T.F International Instructors and are of a 4th degree rank themselves, or higher.
Students will be expected to understand and display a certain criteria in accordance to which rank or Kup they are grading for. Assessment is also made on ability attitude and courtesy shown by each individual Student.
Successful students will also be give a result according to performance and the new belt is usually presented by their Instructor at the next class.
