Senior Masters power and patterns seminar
Instructor Mr Paul Tobin and sixteen students from the Carrick on Suir Taekwon-do School headed to Saint Marks Taekwon-do School in Dublin on Sunday 24 May to take part in the Senior Masters Patterns and Power Seminar.
A unique opportunity to receive intstruction from the three highest ranking members of the R.I.T.A
in Ireland.
Senior Master Robert Howard 8th degree, Senior Master Anthony Phelan 8th degree and Senior Master Francis Barrett, all took time out to conduct the seminar.
The morning started with the huge number of students being taken through a warming up session by Mr Floyd Keane to limber us up and have us ready for the arrival of the Senior Masters.
Once the Senior Masters had been introduced and we had all been bowed in it was straight down to business, with Instructors and students from schools all over Ireland performing Saju Jirugi and Saju Magki and working their way up through the others Patterns.
The Senior Masters then split up and watched pupils performing patterns up to their own belt level and going through the movments step by step, correcting and advising as seen fit.
A brief stop for a spot of lunch out in the sun and then back in to where we had left off. This time being warmed up by Mr O Doherty
from Cork. Later in the afternoon the power section began with all students getting to break wood several times again under the watchful eyes of the Senior Masters and Black belts.
The day ended with everyone feeling slightly tired and stiff but with a feeling of achievement.
Just before the final Bowing out , All participents were presented with a certificate of attendance for the day.
Carrick on Suir Taekwon-do School would like to thank Senior Master Howard, Senior Master Phelan and Senior Master Barrett for giving up their time to train us and also to all in St Marks and everyone else who organised the day for us
