Back to news
Over 50 students from the Carrick on Suir Taekwon-Do School took to the streets to represent their school in the local St Patricks Day parade. The younger ones showing all signs of excitements as we gathered in the Dojang. Some finding it harder to contain themselves more than others. After a quick warm up  on the mats we took the brief stroll up the town to take up positions in the parade line up.
After a brief encounter with Saint Patrick himself, we headed off second in the sets of marchers that made up the parade. The school itself received great applause from the spectators as we made our way through the streets.
After the main parade came to an end of the Carrick on Suir Taekwon-Do School  made its way to the Swan field where a demonstration was given.
The demo started with the White belts under the instruction of Miss Laura Tobin performing front kicks and punches and also Saju Jirugi.
The Lower Colour belts performed Chon- Ji Tul and also Three Step 1-4. An example of what takes place in the Saturday squad training was then displayed with a portion of the tough exercise regime shown . Rosin O' Neil then performed  a solo black belt pattern followed by other members showing  sparring techniques. Rosin also took part in the Black belt sparring  with Ms Julianne Tobin, which brought some ohhs and ahhs from the audience.
The breaking demo was also a great crowd pleaser with breaks being made with a variety of kicks and punches shown by Patrice Conaty ( Kilmacow R.I.T.A ) Laura Tobin and Brian Cusack who made a spectaculor break with a scissors kick. Gavin Murray gave a great example of flying side kicks over no less than six volunteers
The exhibition came to an end with a stretching demonstration and the finale came with a team pattern being performed competition style.
The final bow out was rewarded with great applause from the 120+ audience that had gathered to watch.
We would like to say well done to all who took part especially to some of the younger members who were very well behaved whilst waiting around for the parade to begin. And especially for the non-members who gave up their time to walk with us to keep the little ones under control
